PHotoEspaña 2013, últimos días

Desde hace quince años se celebra el Festival Internacional de Fotografía PHotoEspaña. La muestra se inauguró el pasado 5 de junio y finalizará el próximo 28 de julio. Como siempre, además de Madrid, habrá otras cuidades que acojan parte de las muestras, en esta ocasión serán Cuenca, Alcalá de Henares, Alcobendas, Berlín, París, Lanzarote, Zaragoza y Praga. Así que quienes estos días paséis por alguno de estos sitios no perdáis la oportunidad de visitar sus exposiciones. Merecen la pena.
Esta edición titulada "Cuerpo. Eros y políticas" aborda el tema de la identidad, las convencionalismos y las controversias entorno al cuerpo desnudo, uno de los principales temas de la Historia de la Fotografía. Además, durante varias semanas se han desarrollado numerosos debates y charlas con el fin de complementar con nuevos enfoques el objeto del certamen.
Algunos de los artistas participantes son Shirin Neshat, Edward Weston, Zbigniew Dlubak o Violeta Bubelytè.

For fifteen years now the International Festival of Photography PHotoEspaña is taken place. The showing was inaugurated last 5th of June and will last until next 28th of July. Like usual, besides Madrid, some other cities will hold part of the exhibitions, in this occasion Cuenca, Alcalá de Henares,  Alcobendas, Berlín, París, Lanzarote, Zaragoza and Praga. So those of you that will spend some days in these places, don't miss the opportunity of visiting some of the exhibitions, it's worth it.
This edition titled "Cuerpo. Eros y políticas" tackles the topics of identity, conventionalisms and controversy of the nacked body, one of the prominent themes of Histoy of Photography. Besides, debates and talks have been celebrated so as to complement with new perspectives the subject of the event.
Some of the pieces exhibited belog to astists such as Shirin Neshat, Edward Weston, Zbigniew Dlubak or Violeta Bubelytè.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Antes y después

El proyecto “Back to the future” de la fotógrafa Irina Werning es totalmente alucinante  y nos ha parecido genial ¡. El proyecto consiste en juntar dos fotos de las mismas personas, en el mismo lugar y vestidos de la misma manera pero con unos cuantos años de diferencia. En las fotos se nota el paso del tiempo provocándonos un poco de nostalgia.

The project “Back to the future” of the photografer Irina Werning  is a little bit unbelievable and great. The photographer has taken two photos of the same people in the same place and dressed in the same way, but many years later. In the pictures we can see how the time  has gone by and gives us a bit of nostalgia.

No estoy allí, I’m not here

Hoy tenemos una serie de fotos muy creativas de un artista de Barcelona que nos ha llamado la atención. El fotógrafo español, Paul Úbeda Hervàs, con su proyecto “No estoy allí”, se pregunta cómo se ve ahora y sobre su verdadera personalidad. Las sombras son el reflejo de él mismo. “Estas fotos son la forma en que me veo ahora. Mi sombra está ahí, pero me borré porque no sé quién soy por más tiempo. Los zapatos siguen estando sólo para asegurar que hay algo más que… una sombra.”

Today we have a very creative photo series of the Spanish photographer Paul Úbeda Hervàs that we want to present. The project entitled “I’m not here” talks about the question of the identity. The Catalan artist has made a series of thought- provoking photos of his own shadows.

“These pictures are the way I see myself now. My shadow is there but I erase myself because I don´t know who I am any longer. The shoes remain only to make sure there is something more than… a shadow.”

Instagram: elige tu foto

La nueva red social Instagram tiene un gran éxito y Riverside tiene también su propia cuenta. La aplicación gratuita cuenta hoy con más de 100 millones de usuarios, tanto famosos como anónimos, y  pueden aplicar efectos fotográficos , filtros, marcos, colores retro y vintage, luego pueden compartir las fotografías en diferentes redes sociales como Facebook, Twitter, Tumblry Flickr.

Pero Instagram va  más allá , y podemos encontrar fotos muy bonitas que reflejan o describen nuestro mundo actual.

The new social network Instagram has a great success and Riverside also has its own account. The free app currently has over 100 million users, famous and anonymous, and you can apply photo effects and filters, frames, retro and vintage colors, then youcan share the photos on social networking  like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr Tumblry.

But Instagram offers you more, and we can find beautiful pictures which reflects and describe our world today.

Un viaje a la India…

Esta mañana hemos hablado de “Slumdog Millonaire”, unas fotos de Jeffrey Milstein nos hizo recordar esta película.

Este fotógrafo empezó su carrera como arquitecto pero decidió dedicarse a la fotografía y más en concreto sobre el tema de la aviación. Lo que les gusta es coger un poco de altura para tener un punto de vista más original. Su proyecto “Flying” consiste en fotografías sorprendentes de los aeropuertos de Los Ángeles, Chicago y Londres.

Pero hay otras imágenes que nos ha llamado nuestra atención y nos han hecho viajar a un país donde la tranquilidad, la espiritualidad y el bien estar son sus pilares, fotos llenas de color que nos transportan a la India y nos incitan a irnos de vacaciones allí.

This morning we talked about "Slumdog Millionaire" because we saw some photos of Jeffrey Milstein which it reminded us of this film.

This photographer began his career as an architect and decided to devote himself to photography and more precisely on the subject of aviation. He likes taking a bit of height to have a more original point of view . His project "Fying" consists of photographs of the airports of Los Angeles, Chicago and London, they are amazing!!!

But there are another pictures that have called our attention and have made us ​​traveling in a country where peace, spirituality and well-being are very important. Those pictures, full of color, take us to India and we have been given some ideas for choosing a site for holidays.

La obra de Annie Leibovitz recompensada

La fotógrafa de moda Annie Leibovitz, conocida gracias a sus grandes retratos fotográficos de celebridades como John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Mick Jagger o Bob Dylan ha ganado ayer el premio Principe de Asturias de Comunicación y Humanidades.

Esta artista es una de las fotógrafas más respetadas en Europa y America. Su obra es el resultado de muchas horas de trabajo, de mucha paciencia, y de una perspectiva única.

Annie Leibovitz ha fotografiado los más grandes de nuestro siglo y todas las grandes estrellas han aceptado posar para ella: Demi Moore desnuda y embarazada, Mijail Gorbachev sentado dentro de un automóvil con los restos del Muro de Berlin, Whoopi Goldberg en una bañera llena de leche …

Pero la obra más conocida de Leibovitz es seguramente la foto de John Lennon y Yoko Ono, última aparición fotográfica conocida del músico, donde la pareja posa desnuda, en posición fetal  transmitiéndonos una cierta fragilidad y ternura..

The fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz, known thanks to their great photographs of celebrities such as John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Mick Jagger or Bob Dylan, won yesterday the Award of the Prince of Asturias for Communication and Humanities.

That woman is one of the most respected photographers in Europe and America. Her work is a matter of time, patience and genialness.

Annie Leibovitz has photographed the most faimous stars  of our century .All of them have accepted to pose for her: Demi Moore naked and pregnant, Mikhail Gorbachev sitting in a car with pieces of the Berlin Wall, Whoopi Goldberg in a bathtub full of milk ...

But her best-known work is probably the photo of John Lennon and Yoko Ono,the last known picture of the musician, a photo of the couple posing nude, in a fetal position, a photo very fragile and tender.

Flying Houses by Laurent Chéhère, una aventura de altura

Esta exposición nos ha recordado la película “UP”.

Es una exposición de obras surrealistas  dedicada a las casas volantes. El artista Laurent Chéhère nos presenta sus arquitecturas oníricas, realizadas con fotografías modificadas mediante ordenador. Las fotos nos ofrecen un nuevo punto de vista del mundo contemporáneo. Esta exposición es también un metáfora de la libertad y nos hacen viajar por el mundo entero porque Laurent Chéhère ha elegido edificios típicos de cada continente.

Exposición de Vivian Maier

Vivian Maier, una mujer de la que se desconocen muchos datos, aunque se sabe que pasó la mayor parte de su vida ejerciendo de niñera y que escondía un tesoro de 100.000 imágenes, muchas por revelar, tomadas en los años 50 y 60 entre Nueva York y Chicago.
Sus fotografías no se han hecho populares hasta después de su muerte, cuando por casualidad los negativos fueron adquiridos en 2007 en una subasta. Su comprador, John Maloof, se ha dedicado desde entonces ha recopilar y catalogar la mayoría de estas obras. Gracias a él Vivian Maier forma hoy parte de la historia de la fotografía del s.XX.
Por primera vez se podrán ver de forma exhaustiva 120 de sus imágenes y 9 películas en super 8 en una muestra que comenzando por Valladolid continuará en ciudades como Tours y Gotemburgo.

Del 8 de mayo al 8 de junio en la sala San Benito de Valladolid.

Vivian Maier, a woman whose personal information is mostly unknown, although it is true that she spent most of her life working as a nanny and hid a treasure of 100000 images, many undeveloped, taken in the fifties and sixties between New York and Chicago.
Her photographs haven't become popular until her death, when, in 2007, by chance her negatives were bougth in an auction. Since then, their buyer, John Maloof, has been dedicated himself to collect and classify the mayority of her works. Thanks to him Vivian Maier is today part of the History of the 20th Century Photography.
It's the first time we can see such a wide exhibition of hers, that contains 120 pictures and 9 super 8 films. The showing will start in Valladolid, followed by Tours and Gotemburg.

From 8th May to 8th July in San Benito Exhibition Hall, Valladolid.

 

FLORA BORSI: Entre la pintura y la fotografía

Queremos despedir la semana presentándoos a Flora Borsi, una precoz artista húngara que nos ha dejado boquiabiertos con sus últimas obras.
En ellas ha recreado algunos de los retratos más famosos de las vanguardias artísticas del siglo XX mediante el uso de modelos y retoque fotográfico. El resultado es tan sorprendente e impactante.

We want to finish the week introducing you to Flora Borsi, a precocious hungarian artist that has left has open-mouthed with her latest works.
There she recreates some of the most famous portraits of the artistic vanguards of the XX Century by using models and photo editing. The result is so surprising and powerful.
